Meri Pyaari Gudiya Tribute to Save the Girl Child Campaign, the song has been composed by music director and former reality show participant Abhijit Ghoshal depicts the significance of a girl child through her father’s eyes.
Shaan and his better half, Radhika Mukherji, set up a library-cum-study room for underprivileged girls in the city in January. Then, in April, the singer performed atop a bus to promote Radhika’s latest initiative that aims to promote upcoming musicians.
Joining the troop, the playback singer Shaan has sung a song that is dedicated to the Indian government’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. On the other hand, the Gujarati film industry following the footsteps of Bollywood industry with singers like Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghosal, Armaan Malik giving their voices to Gujarati songs.
The video song sketches the imaginative child of Pradhyumansinh Solanki, an Ambavadi who runs a studio in the city. As quoted by DNA in reference to Meri Pyaari Gudiya Tribute to Save the Girl Child, he shared “Today’s world, particularly in India, female foeticide, female illiteracy, child marriage and gender biasness are rampant. I wanted to stand up for the cause so I decided to make a video song. The idea is to uproot this misogyny by being a part of an relentlessly supporting the cause.”
After making the decision about the song, he thought of Shaan’s voice was perfect for the song, but were skeptical if he would agree or not. Fortunately, the idea did worked and Shaan was ready for this noble cause and did not charge at all for Meri Pyaari Gudiya – Tribute to Save the Girl Child Campaign which is crowd funded project. That’s how merger of Bollywood and Gujarati film industry happened for a noble cause occurred. The shooting of the song is currently underway and will be soon released.
